my shiny new 17" MacBook Pro was ok until 3:00 am two nights ago when the internet connection suddenly died
then three telephone calls later in the afternoon to Comx help they had convinced me that it was defective, and I was all set to go to the Apple workshop - luckily I droppped by a neighbour and used her router and was able to get on line with out problems.

So I took the machine home and after a morning at the Copenhagen National Archives, set it up again - this time with my glorius old Radius PrecisionColor Display also 17" at 1600 x 1024 pixels and with the Laptop at 1680 x 1050 something good came out of the muddle.
I booted the machine and came straight back on line and dealt with a back-log of about 800 mails - mostly from lists to be read rather than answered.
I was very tired and thought I should do some blogging later after a good sleep
I tried to come back on line and NO -- OW OW OW the connection to the mac failed again
Out of curiosity I opened one of my virtual WinXp sp2 PCs
see http://mac-on-intel.blogspot.com/ for more about that
and tried
Run
traceret aol.com
and by jove that machine was on line but the browser can't find the dns serveer
so I opened my other virtual machine and I could read my web mail and get on with living.
But i can't update any of my usual blogs because I am having ISP problems which means I am line now with a bridges ethernet
then I messsed up the login to blogger - the cookies are on the Mac - and the only answer seems to be to start over
